This home at 555 North 12th Street was built in 1907 by native born Georgian, Oscar Hayes who owned a mercantile business, a gin and lumbar yard in Webbers Falls, Indian Territory. Associated with C. N. Haskell in 1905 in the building of an interurban between Muskogee and Ft. Gibson, Indian Territory. Mr. Hayes also had interests in Webbers Falls, Shawnee and Western Railroad. In 1916 he was elected County Commissioner. Oscar and his brother Lester owned the "Queen City China Company", a Muskogee business, which dealt in fine haviland china. The exterior of this home has been altered by the removal of the porte cochere and the staples in the rear of the property.
